This desk has been in the family and handed down. My understanding is it dates back to the late 1800's. The desk is in very good condition. I believe the manufacturer was the Skandia Company which began operation in Rockford, Illinois in 1888. It is quality crafted from quarter sawn oak and has original hardware.
Cylinder Desks preceded Roll-Top desks and instead of a tambour style roll top this desk has a curved solid wood front rotates up and around to reveal the mail slots and drawers and a pull out writing surface (ideal for use with a laptop). Inside the roll top is a slide-out writing/ lap-top shelf and several small open compartments. Large sliding drawer and two bottom drawers with cabinet. Size: 34" width, 42" height, 18" depth.
I am open to restoration projects as long as the boat has a title and the trailer is in useable condition as is. Willing to deliver the desk and pick up the sailboat within a 300 mile radius of Chicago. Anything further I would need delivered.

1/16/11 Seeking: Elite / Kirie' / 30S sailboat.
This boat was made during the mid-1980s and sold under a number of different names as the French manufacturer went though several ownership changes before being bought by Jenneau and going out of business. The boat I'm looking for was known as a Elite 30. It's a racer/cruiser that comes in two styles -- the 30S (I believe that means standard) which is a masthead rig and and Elite 30 R (racing) which is a fractional rig with runners. The boat was designed by the late Phillippe Briand -- the renowned French yachtman. I'm interested in either boat (but prefer the masthead) in reasonable condition and would be happy to discuss terms with an owner interested in possibly selling.
