This is a fine example of the First 235 Liberty Edition that has been lightly used and extremely well cared for. She is essentially a stock boat that is a clean slate ready for upgrades such as electronics and a new motor. Or she can simply be enjoyed as the sweet sailing little big-boat that she is.
The gelcoat shines like new and all of the decals and striping are brand new 3M performance vinyl. The cabin is in excellent condition. The mast is virtually free from dings and scrapes - a testament that this boat was likely never raced. The standing rigging appears to be newer and all of the running rigging is in excellent condition. The nonskid is in excellent shape as is all of the brightwork.
While she is in great shape cosmetically, she's also had some of the big jobs taken care of. The iron keel has over 100 man hours in it and is completely refurbished. Every bit of bottom paint, epoxy and rust was removed using an angle grinder. Once the bare iron was exposed and clean, four coats of Rust-Loc primer were applied. This is an amazing product that would hold up on its own. However, the keel was encapsulated with 8-10 thin coats of West System epoxy and was faired to race-ready perfection. The old blue ablative bottom paint was removed from the rest of the bottom. The hull and keel are ready for bottom paint of the buyer's choice. The bottom was deliberately not finished as there is no telling where this boat will end up and how long it may sit before being launched again.
The topsides were wet sanded to 1600 grit and then meticulously machine polished to perfection as you can see in the images. New decals were cut and the boat now appears factory fresh. All of the teak was thoroughly cleaned and varnished. The 15 gallon holding tank and all sanitary lines were replaced with OdorSafe hoses and double clamped.
The only thing left to be done to make this a spectacular package is to repaint the trailer. The trailer already has new tires, new rims, and new lights. It's a custom float-off trailer that makes launching, retrieving and hauling this boat a breeze. This trailer is built for long-distance use.
Asking price has been established given the fact that we will apply bottom paint and repaint the trailer.
This is one of the finest First 235s around. She's had the white glove treatment and is ready to be enjoyed by her new owner.
