1971 Ericson 27
A very well-built, heavy displacement cruiser with headroom and full accommodations on a waterline barely over twenty feet.
This is a distress sale.
My nephew died suddenly last November and the family must sell his boat.
He bought her from, I believe, her first owner, in 2005.
Since then "Liquid" has lain at Fishing Bay Yacht Club in Deltaville, Va.
Her condition appears to be sound but she is in need of much cleaning and cosmetic work.
There is no varnish left anywhere. The gelcoat is unpainted and chalky. There is or was an engine exhaust problem, though it appears he ordered the necessary parts back in 06.
I see a 4-in gash in the liner at the base of the companion ladder to the side, and damage to the rubrail at the starboard aft end. Running and standing rigging seem to be in fine shape.
There is water in the bilge, but considering that no one has looked after this boat for some months, it is only a caution.
I think the boat is in sail-away, perhaps motor-away, condition.
There is no trailer.
There appears to be little equipment beyond three bags of sails, an Atomic Four engine, and several manuals, brochures, and articles regarding the boat and engine.
Boat spex are:
Displacement 7000 lbs
Ballast 2900 lbs
Ericson 27 #102 sold today.
I got dozens of calls and had no trouble selling this boat to ideal buyers.
