Hunter 23, 1987 with galvanized trailer, extension tongue.
This is a beautiful boat that's fast and fun. We bought her 4 years ago, fixed her up, added electronics and other extras, then had a blast sailing Lake Erie. Now we have a larger boat, so this one has to go! Worth more than the asking price.
Here's a partial list of what we did:
All new halyards, sheets, boom lines, and rudder kick-up line
Windows removed and re-bedded.
Rubrail removed, all screw holes caulked, rubrail replaced.
Companionway slider altered to prevent leaks.
New anchor light
New bulkhead compass
Autohelm 1000 (used)
New interior lights (switchable, white or red for night vision)
Most wiring replaced
New marine radio and antenna wire
New Humminbird dual beam fishfinder/depth sounder in bow (shoot through
setup - no hole in hull to leak, also removable)
Hatch boards replaced with maintenance-free Starboard
Four cleats added for easier docking
Enclosed gas locker to make it lockable.
Hanging storage and light added to lazarette
Painted interior, including cabin, bilge, and storage.
Interior and exterior woodwork re-finished
Hull gelcoat buffed and waxed
Cushion tops re-upholstered (not used, stored in spare bedroom)
New window and head curtains
Custom insect screens
It's almost like getting a new boat!!!!
The boat also has:
Main sail and head sail in good condition
Sail and winch covers
Mounted flip-up swim ladder
Adjustable motor mount
Alcohol stove
Sink
Marine fire extinguisher
Deep cycle battery and box
Flip-up rudder
Built-in anchor locker
Wing keel
Want to spend the night on the boat with family/friends? The cabin floor boards lift up and slide into the slots on the front of the benches. Then, cover with the backrests, and you have another huge bed!
The boat is clean, dry, no soft spots, and fun to sail.
Some of the great features on this boat:
Galvanized trailer----go anywhere
Very responsive, easy to dock
Dry cabin and storage
Main cabin transforms into one huge bed
Exterior gas locker----no gas fumes in cabin or bilge
Self righting
Fractional rig, high aspect ratio sail----sails well even in light breezes
Jiffy reefing and sail slug removal----quickly change sail area for wind conditions.
Wing keel and hull shape----when the right conditions are met, boat can get up on plane and go faster than hull speed!
Floats in only 27" of water (a little over knee deep!), and has easy kick-up rudder. Explore secluded coves, anchor off the beach.
Permanently mounted swim ladder
Built in bow anchor locker. Drop anchor quickly and easily.
Bug screens!
My personal favorite—the outward slanted cockpit seats and gunnels. This is a great boat if your family or guests want to sail but feel uneasy heeling. Why? As the boat heels, the outward-slanted gunnel and seat on the high side become more level-----a very comfortable boat for new sailors.
