1999 JY15
This is a really nice JY15 built in 09/99. It has had very little use and includes a nice Karavan galvanized trailer. The JY 15 is built by Hunter Marine.
Length: 15'
Beam: 5'10"
Hull Weight: 275 lbs.
Sail Area:
Main: 100 sq. ft.
Jib: 35 sq. ft.
Mast Height: 22'
Designer: Rod Johnstone (of J24, J22, J80, etc. fame)
Self bailing, ergo dynamic cockpit
Kick up rudder and centerboard for easy beaching
An extremely stable 275 lb. hull that allows for a greater range of crew weight
Flared sides provide a comfortable hiking edge
One Design specifications ensure that every boat is the same
A planing hull that you'll never outgrow
Foam injected hull that provides over 1000 lbs. of positive flotation
All JY sailboats are constructed with an outer plastic skin, a central foam core and an inner fiberglass skin. The outer plastic skin is 1/8" thick and is a co-extrusion of high impact resistant ABS and UV resistant Plexiglas which is many times stronger than fiberglass. There are no fibers to break down; the hull will not become soft, and it is easier to maintain and repair than fiberglass.
There are more than 80 active fleets and more than 2000 JY15s nationwide.
The JY15 can be easily rigged, launched and sailed by one person but is a blast with two. I have seen JY15's raced with adult crew or with a crew as young as eight years old.
