Our 1977 Montgomery 17 Sailboat "Seranita" is in remarkable condition having been lovingly and completely restored over the past two years. "Seranita", which translates to "Little Dolphin" is berthed here in San Diego and is fully rigged and ready to sail without needing anything.
The Quality of the M17 is of the highest caliber and these boats are fast and responsive, and enjoy a near cult-like following amongst their loyal owners and admirers.
Seranita looks like a new boat and one must see her to appreciate her. I have gone through every square inch of her over the past two years and it shows.
Spinnaker sail included.
Now for some of the details...The sails are in very good condition and the Mainsail bears sail number 232. There is a 135% foresail and a 100% foresail. Presently the 135% is onboard and affixed to a CDI roller furler. The mast has been polished, the standing rigging has been upgraded and the mast electrical has been rewired and a new anchor light and Forespar deck light has been added. The running rigging was replaced in 2008, a new electrical panel was added and new wiring in the cabin and a new house battery added. The v-berth and cabin upholstery was re-done in 2006 and is in perfect condition. The very few spider gel coat blems that were evident when I purchased her were all professionally restored and the gelcoat is in excellent condition. I added a new Garhauer Mainsheet Traveler which matches up perfectly and the cockpit looks amazing with my addition of a cockpit grate made out of one of the hardest Amazon wood available. The cockpit deck was professionally re-painted. New Hull graphics were added in 2008 with the Seranita name and Montgomery Logo's. She has a 2004 Suzuki Four Stroke outboard that has just enjoyed winter service and runs flawlessly. I added a Standard Horizon VHS to the cabin and wired a RAM MIC to the cockpit. Also in the cockpit are two 12volt plugs for GPS or other handheld units as needed. I installed a new Kenwood Stereo receiver with CD and Ipod connections and it sounds great with high-end cockpit speakers. Seranita enjoyed fresh bottom paint in 2008 and her rudder was just removed last month and filled, faired, epoxied, varnished and remounted. All teak has been varnished with 3 coats of Cetol "Natural Teak" and followed with 5 coats of "High Gloss". The Hatchboards were newly fabricated in 2008. Ground tackle consists of a 20lb traditional Fortress style anchor on the bow with 12' of chain and 50' of rode, along with a 12' fortress anchor in the cockpit locker with 10' of chain and 30' of rode. A forespar whisker pole is also included.
The Montgomery 17 weighs 1600 lbs, and has 600 lbs. of lead ballast. With the Swing Keel up the draft is 1'9" and when down 3'. The sail area is 154 Sq.Ft.
Seranita and the TrailRite both come with clear California Title and registration and Seranita is registered through December 31, 2011.
2005 Four Stroke 4hp Suzuki Outboard that is fresh from Winter Service and running perfectly
1988 TrailRite trailer that has also been refreshed with new chrome wheels, new tires, new lighting and wiring, and fresh wheel bearing service.
