KNOWN ISSUES:
There are a few details that I'm currently working on. Depending on how
quickly the boat sells and the buyer's schedule, some of these may be fixed
before purchase.
Mast Wiring needs to be fished and reconnected where it pulled into the mast
a few feet. As a result, the masthead anchor and steaming light aren't
working. It should be a relatively simple repair, but I've resisted pulling
the mast since I've got the rig nicely tuned for the season.
Traveller base is warped from exposure to the elements. The traveller still
works great, but doesn't look as good as it did when new. The simplest fix
would to buy Harken's traveller control cars, but they're $170.
Hull paint received a nice big scratch on the very first launch. Haven't
effected a repair yet.
Topsides paint hasn't held up nearly as well as I'd prefer. In a few places,
it has actually peeled. This bothers me a little, but again it's strictly a
cosmetic problem, and it doesn't look bad enough for a full repaint, but
that's a job that will be needed in about 2 or 3 more seasons.
There is also a small deck drip somewhere in the stern port quarter of the
boat that I haven't been able to track down.
Im my mind these are fairly minor things, but buying a boat via the internet
is a difficult process and I wanted to be as forthcoming as possible about
the condition of the boat. This shouldn't be considered a warranty in any
form. I'll be removing things from the "known issues" list as they are
repaired, so check back frequently for the latest updates. In reality, there
are so many upgrades and improvements over the original design that this is
almost an entirely different boat... it's certainly nothing like a stock
Mac.
Hi David:
My 1972 MacGregor Venture 222 was SOLD yesterday, and I believe the buyer
came to me via your site... Can't thank you enough!
