Manufacturer's Comment (condensed excerpt from 1978 brochure)
This fine sloop of Shad Turner design is unlike any other sailboat of comparable size on the market. The beautiful sleek lines resemble a mini quarter ton, with exciting performance making her fast and responsive, with finger-tip control even in heavy air. The keel winch adjusts the keel in any position for fined tune performance.
The most amazing thing about the Windrose 18 is below deck. The cabin has amazing roominess and is able to sleep four. The hinged mast step and carrier make rigging an easy task and trailering a simple affair even with today's small cars, and launching is problem free. Safety has not been overlooked in the Windrose 18. She has a molded-in non skid that is really effective with a 1" scuppered toe rail. She is self righting when the heavy cast iron keel is locked in the lowered position; it gives her the stability of a much larger yacht. She has a self bailing cockpit with high coamings that keep it dry with an extra margin of safety and comfort.
Solid quality is built in standard into every Windrose 18 with all hand-laid fiberglass of the finest quality. Deck and hull are thru bolted. Standing rigging is stainless steel with turnbuckles. The mast and boom are anodized aluminum. The Windrose 18 is truly an amazing craft. No exaggeration by a proud manufacturer, as a dealer. Better yet, ask an owner.
