Ready to sail. Images from this summer! Highly stable dinghy, great for learning, cruising, adventuring. I have made many improvements since owning this boat (2 years) and have sailed it in several places. In July I sailed it over 20 hrs / 60 nm in northern Maine (note the boat is now in Vernon, CT - trailer is solid!)
Includes main sail (older but decent condition, missing one batten) and jib (newer, still crispy). No known rips or tears in either sail. Exact age of sails unknown. For racing, plan on new sails. Sturdy motor mount attached and ready for your outboard (I sailed without one).
Very responsive and fun to sail, with the planing hull I regularly hit 7.5-8+ knots in a decent breeze.
Has swing-up centerboard and rudder which is a must for shallow water or unexpected rocks... The board and rudder will just pop up out of the way instead of smashing, a great design for adventuring. It floats in less than a foot of water with the board & rudder up. Also great design for learning as it is a particularly stable boat at this size.
It trailers very easily (I just pulled it 1000 mi behind my 12 year old compact Mazda sedan, see picture). The mast pins at the bottom (tabernacle), making it easy to raise/lower and doable single handed. I can rig, launch, and recover this boat single-handed.
Huge amount of storage space for a boat this size, including a cuddy under the foredeck I can fit inside stretched out (and could sleep in an emergency) and a big lazarette aft. You can easily take everything you need for overnight camping and more than one person has written a book about cruising hundreds of miles in this boat!
The reputation of the Wayfarer is well known and greatly respected.
List of improvements in last 2 years:
All new standing rigging (shrouds, forestay, turnbuckles) 2021
Refurbished and strengthened port chain plate attachment (professional boat yard)
Refurbished and strengthened bow eye hook
Repaired and refit spreaders
Replaced and upgraded all pins and split rings on blocks and standing rigging as needed
Replaced main sheet block
Refit main sheet traveler stops
Refurbished and sealed jib car tracks

Refurbished jib cleats
New stainless steel auto bailer (professional boat yard)
Replaced both main and jib halyards with dyneema
Removed old foam flotation from gunwales, ready for new foam (purchased, installation will be 30 min job)
Trailer includes a winch with strap and hook in good condition to make recovering and securing a snap. Wheel bearings are freshly greased. Trailer is in very good condition overall, although it may need a section of brake light wiring replaced (recent development, I may be able to do this for you)
I have a bunch of helpful extras I can include like a new boom vang I built, roller furling system for the jib, anchor with chain and rope rode, paddles, bailing pump, spare trailer tire, etc if you make a strong offer
