Sea Gypsy was designed robustly to be able to circumnavigate; She is a long keeled boat, with an Airex core and built with Hetron Fire Retardent Resin in 1975. During construction she was inspected by the Coast Guard and there are sample of the hull saved - thru hull from bottom as well as port holes as demonstration of soundness. The Airex in the hull provides for insulation making her comfortable in the winter as well as cooler in the summer. In addition to making for a stiffer hull.
There is no cockpit well, which means there is room for a Great Cabin Aft which contains two Concordia berths fold up and allow storage below and seating for 9 around a table. There is also a galley that includes Primus stoves, as well as electric for when at the dock.
There is a hot water gravity feed heating system. Original designer/builder lived aboard in NY harbor for 20 winters.
The engine is mid ship and accessible for repair or replacement thru main hatch.
