Sabre 28 mk1 1973 sailboat for sale
I'm selling my 1973 Sabre 28 mk1. My family is the second owner of this boat. My father purchased it in 1992. It started its life in Connecticut and via Cleveland, OH, has lived in Texas for a little over three years.
The boat has a major refit about 7 years ago including, live line stanchions re-set (new life lines), mast re-rigged, mast step re-enforced, engine re-build, new batteries, window's re-set among many other updates. I'm also in the process of re-finishing the wood.
When I moved the boat to Texas three years ago, I put on a new bottom job. I've had many people comment that this is one of the cleanest boats they have seen for it's age. The bilge is dry as a bone, and the boat has been well kept its entire life. It's currently located at Eagle Mountain Marina on Eagle Mountain Lake in Fort Worth, TX.
I've recently had the carb re-built and have re-finished the wood.
The Sabre 28 is in the sailing hall of fame! This venerable design was very popular for Sabre and they made it for several years. It's as overbuilt as you can get and high quality construction. It has a very roomy interior and can sleep four comfortably. It comes with an internal head and roomy V berth. Tons of storage for a boat this size and plenty of room in the cockpit as well.
This boat comes with everything you need to get rolling right away:
New (last year) Harken winch on the cockpit last year.
Harken furling system for Genoa
New Jib sheets two years ago
Sails in great shape
Sail cover, wheel cover and winch covers
Whisker pole
Two grills (one charcoal and one brand new never been used Force 10 gas)
Has an internal head with holding tank
Gas Atomic 4 engine
Has a water holding tank (I haven't used since we have only day sailed)
Full compliment of life jackets
Alcohol stove (we haven't used)
Cockpit cushions
Cushions in main salon were re-covered with re-fit
Danforth anchor
Bumpers
Emergency life ring with line
Dodger frame and dodger (it's in need of repair)
AND much more!
Also willing to pay for a month in it's current slip, so you can find a new place (or I can explore transferring the lease from the marina)
I'm selling this boat complete, and it's priced to sell. This price is below the market if you can even find a Sabre.
Like said above, the only thing you will need will be a desire to have fun sailing.
If you are looking for a great cruising boat that is ready to go... This could be the boat for you!
