The 1984 Merit 22 is located at Lake Henfer in Oklahoma City. I got this for a club racing boat, but it needs too much work, and sailing season is here. The person before me didn't realize the cockpit drain hose had disintegrated, so when it rained, it filled up the cabin. That's the first thing I repaired, so the cabin is now dry on the inside. The weight of the water caused the hull to oil can around the aft bunkboard supports, and as far as I can tell, the oil canning is the only problem - the hull integrity seems to be OK.
I started repairing the hull towards the front the keel trunk, but the aft also needs repair. I think the boat struck something while sailing. Some of the running rigging will need to be replaced, but the standing rigging appears to be fine. This boat has a lead keel, which means you don't have any rust to contend with. There are at least two sets of sails in good shape that come with this and a spinnaker.
The trailer’s keel support is missing, which has been temporarily repaired with some slotted channel. I believe the winches are Harken. I didn’t notice any soft spots on the deck. During the move to Lake Hefner, both tires blew out, so they are practically new: one probably has 150 miles on it and the other maybe 300 miles. When one of the tires blew out, it took the fender out, which I still have.
The previous owner must have trailer sailed this. There is no bottom paint, and there isn't any growth over the gel coat. Price is $1,000, and I do have a clear title.
