Princess Diana's fountain

Diana, Princess of Wales Memorial Fountain in Hyde Park, downtown London, is well worth a visit. Nestled in the middle of the hustle and bustle of downtown London, Hyde Park with it's trees, open spaces and Lake Serpentine is a welcome respite from the city's busy atmosphere.

Diana's fountain opened on July 6, 2004 and has been enjoyed by many thousands of people. You are allowed to sit on the fountain and paddle your feet, but walking on the fountain is not allowed, as I found out!

This video starts at the bottom and goes counterclockwise to the top. The two sides of the fountain are not identical at all. Made from 545 pieces of Cornish granite that has been milled by computer to match the clay pieces used to form the pattern, the fountain is very well done. You can find a piece to suit your mood, as the fountain changes as you walk around it. You need the Flash plugin to see the video, click the play button to start the video.

The second video shows Diana's fountain starting at the bottom and going clockwise to the top.
