The Solar Shuttle operates on the Serpentine Lake in Hyde Park of central London, England. Powered completely by the sun, the 42 passenger boat, has been on Serpentine for years. We saw it in 2006 while in London.

Designed by SolarLab founder Christoph Behling, the Solar Shuttle was the largest solar powered boat in England when built. Constructed of stainless steel with 27 solar panels, it continues to operate on the Serpentine.

A maximum journey distance of 82 miles must be for just one day, since it charges some every day. There are many applications where we can use solar powered vehicles today. Most involved short distances, but this is changing as solar panels, motors and batteries improve, power and range increases.
