Have you heard of Sturgis? Well this is the small sailboat version of
it..... Not really, but you're invited to join us for a couple of days of
fun on the water.
On August 7th and 8th we will be gathering at Stillhouse Hollow Lake, just
outside of Belton, Texas. This event is open to any centerboard/dagger board
boat that wants to join us. I plan on having my Mutineer and my Laser there.
It is all very informal. There are no fees, except for camping, so bring
your own food and beverages and be willing to share a little of both. We can
plan on having on the water games of chase, so make sure to load up the
water cannons. An evening cruise on Saturday would be nice also. Those of
you that are musically inclined can bring your instruments and play while
rest of us join in in song.
There is plenty of camping available at both Dana Peak and Union Grove
parks. These are Corps of Engineer parks that sit right across the lake from
each other and are in the area where we will be doing our sailing. We plan
to use Dana Peak as the main campground but Union Grove is just a short sail
away. Reservations for Dana Peak can be made at https://tinyurl.com/4tag5, or
at https://tinyurl.com/4wvsy for Union Grove.
There is also a FREE boatramp, (for those that do not want to stay
overnight), at River's Bend park on the south side of the lake close to
Union Grove park, It's also a short sail away from the beach at Dana Peak
Park.
Anyhow, I hope that you will join us for the weekend, or just for a day.
Let's go sailing.
