This boat has been garage stored and is in excellent condition.
There is a minor (1/4 inch) chip repair at the bottom of the C/B housing, and I have reinforced the inside top of the mast step with a thin layer of cloth to prevent gelcoat chipping at that stress point.
The Catalina 13 is a cat rigged (single sail) boat 13' 8" long and 4' 8" at the beam. Hull weight is 128 lbs. and sail area is about 75 sq. ft.. It has a daggerboard and kick-up rudder, and the stay-less, two part mast is easy to transport and set up quickly. The boat comes equipped with hiking strap, boom vang, long outhaul line (for access while sailing) and a twin cunningham rig that can be adjusted from either side of the boat. This is a high performance single-hander similar to a Laser that planes easily, even on a close reach, except that it is more stable and forgiving on all points of sail due to a slightly harder chine and slightly wider beam. The cockpit is also roomier and transom scuppers provide quick bailing with no tending. The sail has a zippered luff, and hoists on a halyard. This allows quick and easy dousing in a blow. There are two storage ports with nylon bags in the forward cockpit bulkhead, each large enough for a camera, gloves, extra line, boat license, etc.. A beginner can handle this boat in light to medium air, and it will definitely not bore a more advanced sailor. I have jibed this boat in strong winds without going swimming, although the boat has usually been sailed in light to moderate air below 10 knots. It has not been sailed in salt water.
