1986 Capri 22
This is a very well-cared for example of The Capri 22, a well-balanced, powerful, yet easy to handle, sweet sailing boat. She has a HUGE cockpit for a 22-footer, especially compared to a Catalina 22, so it's comfortable for a crew of 2-5 while racing, and we've had up to 8 people out for a day-sail and swim with no trouble.
The Capri 22 is an excellent first keelboat for someone just getting into sailing, but also good for someone looking to learn more about sail trim, racing, or spinnaker work. The boat features ALL sail controls one would want/need (full traveler, boom vang, outhaul, Cunningham, flattening reef and full reef with reefing lines, plus two sets of jib tracks with adjustable jib leads, and is fully rigged for spinnaker).
She's rigged with all control lines led back to the cockpit, so she's easy to singlehand (I have sailed her singlehanded many times with no issues whatsoever, in light and heavy air). She will also heave-to easily, and drift heaved-to at less than a knot of speed, perfectly balanced, while you relax, eat, drink and be merry, or go for a swim.
We've have had her out shorthanded (with only two crew onboard) in 25+ knots of breeze (as documented by the AYC weather station… no bull; what we call "epic" conditions) and the boat has never been scary or a handful. We even got her up to 8.3 knots of boat speed (as per a GPS), surfing on a little wave on Lake Travis, in about 15 knots of breeze!
