Catalina 22, 1986

Up for sale is a nice fresh water Swing keel pop top model in good condition.

Named "Que Sera, Sera" which is Spanish for "what will be, will be" from a lullaby my mother sang to me as a child.

  • LOA 21'6"
  • LWL 19'4"
  • Beam 7'8"

    Recent Improvements:

  • Swing Keel maintenance: cable and roller replaced 2009 with Catalina direct parts.
  • Bottom Paint: hull & rudder done end of 2008 season, keel done end of 2009 season.
  • Hull buffed & waxed: 2009
  • Standing rigging redone: 2008
  • Wood work in good condition.

    Sails/Rigging:

  • Main sail in good shape
  • Working Jib in nice shape
  • Mainsail cover, headsail deck bag, matching outboard cover
  • Nice split adjustable back stay option

    Galley and Interior:

  • Origo 3000 SS two burner alcohol stove
  • Stainless steel sink & built in trash container
  • Catalina cooler
  • All cushions in excellent shape!
  • Pop Top with full enclosure and mast lockout
  • Porta-potti head
  • Catalina direct dinette table add on drawer
  • Potential to sleep 5, lots of storage!

    Instruments:

  • Depth gauge (not working - weathered)
  • VHF radio

    Motor/Equipment:

  • Johnson 9.9 HP sailmaster longshaft 2 stroke with electric start
  • Well maintained, runs good.
  • Nice adjustable motor mount
  • External gas tank (4-6 gallons?) and correct fuel line
  • Good deep cycle marine battery

    Extras:

  • Anchor with chain
  • Dock lines
  • 2+ fenders
  • Boarding Ladder
  • Catalina Owner's Manual
  • Original Purchase/build sheet
  • Mast raising system

Let me be clear: boat can be sailed as is, but here's what I was planning for the next few seasons to be 100%:

  • 1.) Sand and varnish of exterior woodwork. (1 can of Cetol Marine included, depending on how quick it sells I will be doing this once I have free time / weather is nicer)
  • 2.)Would probably replace some running rigging ropes in the next few years, all serviceable - just weathered.
  • 3.) Trailer is included, but needs minor work for long hauls. Trailer features:
  • Tongue extension for shallow launch
  • Keel guides
  • Newer wiring & working lights
  • Recent paint
  • Spare tire

For long hauls / frequent trips, I would suggest:

  • New tires (due to dry rot)
  • Repack/replace bearings as precaution (due to age / infrequent use)
  • Inspect/repair surge brake coupler actuator (seems to need attention every few years)

I live at the lake in the summer, so the trailer's annual use is about 10 miles and winter storage. These safety precautions for the trailer would only be necessary for someone planning to trailer the boat long distance or frequently. The local marine could perform the work and be negotiated into the price (I figure about $250-$500). Only reason for sale is due to job change = less free time. I should also mention I have sold many cars on the internet and know a few insured shippers/haulers who can deliver all over the east coast safely at reasonable rates. Title on boat & trailer are free and clear, ready to go. Boat is located on Keuka Lake in Upstate NY. It currently has a pvc mast rigged fully enclosed tent keeping it out of the elements. Thank you and happy sailing.
