Columbia 26 MK II
1970 designed by Bill Tripp. I am the second owner and have just completed updating this remarkable design with crispy and clean working jib and 150% Genoa (brass hanks).
The mainsail is brand new; for a 26' McGreggor which gives an additional 9 ft. of sail area and higher aspect to the rig It has 2 full battens, leach chord, cunningham and 2 reef points. Bungee lines lash the sail to the boom for storage, and a blue sail cover protects it from the elements. She also has a jib bag/cover for leaving it on deck, and sail bags for all sails.
Halyards, vang, lazy jacks and a downhaul for the head sail all run back to the cockpit which also has bronze winches, a compass, air and water temp gauge. and a non- working depth gauge.
The topsides and non-skid deck are freshly painted; and all teak was refinished with teak oil, inside and out . No more peeling varnish.. The bottom is in very good shape, I have not sanded or painted it since spring of 2008 so you can see that no problem exists.
I added some storage area and teak veneer to a bulkhead inside the cabin and a custom, teak dinette table which eliminates one sleeping birth but gives welcome floor space in the cabin. Changing the seat backs in the cabin to a modern design increased the sense of space and made it easier to access storage under the settee.
The foredeck air cowl is heavy, cast aluminum and sits on a dorade box to exclude water.
New shore power through the boat so that it can be plugged in at the bow or cockpit, and provided six 12 volt outlets.
Two systems of water pressure allow fresh water to the galley and lake water to the sink in the enclosed head. 12 gal. of fresh water in a new, plastic tank, . A separate 12 VT. circuit was added for the water pressure pumps, the Uniden VHF and for fans in the V birth. The V bunk area is wired with a switch for 12 VT. fans.
Other equipment includes:
A newer Johnson Saildrive 9.9 long shaft outboard motor with new 3 bladed prop, electric start and alternator I just acquired from a repair shop. The older, 15 hp 1974 Chrysler long shaft motor is also available if the buyer would prefer that for a bit less money.
Large ice box,
Original teak dinette table,
Two burner alcohol stove- never used.
13 gal holding tank for the marine toilet.
2 12 VT. batteries, one is deep cycle for lights etc.
Battery charger and state of charge meter which monitors each battery separately.
Trade Winds comes completely ready to sail with anchor and rode, fenders, dock lines, 50' of marine shore power line, boat hook, fire extinguishers, air horn, first aid kit, life jackets, boarding ladder, sales brochure and specs, recently rebuilt wood cradle etc.
The port side shows an area of about 8" square of prior repair. I do not know what happened, but the hull is solid fiberglass and the repair is stable, with only minor cosmetic evidence of its presence.
The boat is on the hard in Holland, MI on Lake Michigan. Trade Winds spent her whole life at this marina, and I believe her slip is still available.

Displacement weight is 5900 lbs with 2550 lbs of ballast in the fixed keel.
