The Picnic Cat is from the drawing board of Clark Mills, designer of our former 16 CB and our 23/3, and well known also as the designer of the Optimist Pram and the Windmill One Design. Unlike her sister Com-Pacs the Picnic Cat has a centerboard rather than a keel. With her centerboard up she is beachable. Her broad hull form and the low center-of-effort of her gaff-rigged sail make her very stable. And her huge self-bailing cockpit and ample stowage offer unsurpassed comfort in a small, easily handled package. She's built of solid, hand-laid glass, with aluminum spars and stainless centerboard. In addition, the exclusive Mastendr(tm) mast raising system revolutionizes the trailer-boating experience.
Hunter green hull (freshly waxed)
Beautiful brass rubrail that contrasts beautifully with the dark hull.
Boom crutch to support mast when transporting
Custom made full-length hunter green boat cover
Factory installed motor mount (sorry, no motor)
Factory installed boarding ladder
Ida Marine foiled rudder (new, not installed yet!)
Teak floorboard
Performance Trailer with new spare
Roomy? You decide... there's a 9'6" cockpit!
Storage? We took enough camping gear and food/beverages, for the BOOTS rendevous for four people. (yes, the 4 people too)
MasTender easy-raising-mast system, in under 10 minutes you'll be sailing.
Garage-kept, or Boat Port, all but one year, when housed in a COVERED motorboat slip! She is of "BOOTS Fame" on the trailersailor board, you can ask about her!
Stable sailing and quite dry thanks to a high bow.
You can't sail this boat without someone commenting on how fun and pretty she looks.
This is a lightly used beautiful catboat daysailor in really good condition. There are a couple of minor blemishes on her hull that can be easily touched up by someone who can take care of a scuff. She is 100% structurally sound. She has one bent turnbuckle (picture included) on the port side that does not affect her performance. Easily replaceable if someone feels the need, but not necessary.
These boats are hard to find second-hand as they have not been around very long and not many have come up for sale. It took me 2 years to find this one and my wife and I drove from Oklahoma to Colorado to get her. I bought her at a decent price (along with my previous boat as a trade-in) and I am selling her for a good price to the first person that wants a Picnic Cat as bad as I did a few years ago!
We are located just 2 hours north of Dallas, 3 hours south of Oklahoma City.
I'll drive part way to where you are to save you a bit of time and gas, but please, not half way across the country! My 1988 Honda Accord is all I have used to tow/launch her in this part of the country.
We've decided we should only keep one boat, so Cataroo is looking for a new home.
Hello, David
This letter is to let you know that my Picnic Cat which you advertised for me has sold, for full asking price.
Thank you so much for your help in bringing sailors together. I advertised our Oklahoma based Picnic Cat on your site and sold her to a sailor in Florida who has been looking for a Picnic Cat for some time. Having lost his last boat to Katrina, he was very happy to get Cataroo. Your site made it possible.
Thanks again.
