1981 Ericson 28+
If you're looking for an affordable, well-equipped cruising boat that can keep up with the big boys, this may be the boat for you. The Ericson 28+, designed by Bruce King, is a fast, stiff and comfortable cruiser with all the interior room of a 35 footer, in under 29 feet. This means you can cruise in comfort, race on the weekends, yet save thousands every year in slip fees.
This two-owner boat has been well maintained, is super clean, and has a recently rebuilt Universal 11 HP diesel. She has many upgrades including all new electronics. With a range and oven, hot and cold pressurized water, huge comfortable berths and all the interior room of that 35 footer you've been eyeballing, your friends can join you for a daysail or a weekend away in comfort and style. She sleeps five adults comfortably, plus one kid in a on the port settee.
With a very tall rig (and large sails) for a boat of this size, she'll take off when other boats are slatting in the swells. Wide side decks and genoa tracks set well inboard means you can get to the foredeck easily and safely, and sail closer to the wind than many other boats in this size range. This is truly a sailor's boat.
Scheherazade is berthed in an awesome (assumable!) slip at Cabrillo Marina, protected from the afternoon winds, only steps from the parking lot, restrooms, the LA Yacht Club and the Doubletree Hotel for breakfast on those sunny weekend mornings.

Hi David -
My boat is sold, so please make that change on the ad.
While I did end up selling it to someone I knew, I received over 10 inquiries in the first week from the Sailing Texas website, from potential buyers in Texas, Arizona, California, and even Mexico! You're obviously doing something right.
Take care and thanks very much for your help.
-Dan
