Freedom Yachts were designed by award winning Gary Hoyt, a champion sailor and noted maverick. This yacht has a cat-sloop sail rig with a fixed carbon fiber mast and is stayless (meaning that the mast is freestanding and not supported by the normal set of standing rigging). The gun-mounted spinnaker arrangement, with all lines led aft to the cockpit, allows single-handed sailing with ease.... solo or with family & kids. Two single berths & the double V- berth that's perfect for kids. For the racers, the PHRF is 204. There were only 75 produced.
Scope of this Project:
The boat is structurally sound and is presently floating in its slip. But, leaking windows, which must be replaced, have severely damaged all the flooring and some bunk/cabinet plywood. The interior cushions are original, are OK, but need cleaning. The deck core appears to be good, but there is one bad spot in the cockpit seat area. The entire boat must be repainted, and of course, the bottom must be refinished. The Spinnaker is OK, but the Main Sail must be replaced. This Cat Design does not use a Jib. Better plan to replaced the Bimini & its cover. This Project is more than a "Handy Man" special! But if you are the Brave of Heart kind, you should look at saying this Classic!
