1976 Gulf Coast 18

This is a 1976 model that I have spent many hours improving. The first major repair was to blast away all of the rust that was locking the steel centerboard into the shoal draft keel. I believe the boat was used in the Clear Lake Area (brackish water). The cast iron keel and the centerboard have both been electric sanded and primed with oxide primer for many years of use in fresh water. The keel was re-faired and two coats of blue bottom paint was applied to the hull. Recently I have kept the boat on a lift so it spends a minimum amount of time in the water when not in use.

The main sail and working jib are in excellent shape and have lots of crinkle left. The main is equipped with one line of reef ties that doubles for sail ties when flaking and storing. I keep them covered with matching main cover and jib bag when not in use. I recently added a whisker pole setup which is great for sailing wing-on-wing. All of the running rigging is equipped with blocks and cam cleats designed for easy single handed sailing. The main and jib halyards are even color coded, red and green. A wind direction indicator is on top of the mast.

The original mast-step or tabernacle has been modified and a Capri 22 mast-step was added to help raise and lower the mast by one person.

The seven interior cushions are blue on top and white on the bottom and were recently recovered. All are in excellent condition. The cabin can sleep up to 4 people. A port-a-potty is included. This boat has an electrical system that accommodates navigation and cabin lights, electric bilge pump, and a radio if desired. The radio was removed but the speakers are still in place. A mast head antenna is in place for a VHF radio (radio not installed).

The rudder is aluminum with kick-up design and the tiller is laminated wood similar to a Catalina 22'. Tiller and motor have matching blue covers.

The 2 HP Honda 4cycle motor is about a 1990 model and runs great and usually starts on the second or third pull. No mixing gas/oil is required. The motor is on a heavy duty aluminum adjustable mount.

The trailer is a 1976 EZ-Loader with six sets of rubber rollers, Galvanized construction. The original axel has been enlarged and improved. The leaf springs, U-bolts, wheels and tires are 2 years old. This rig is ready to travel. Total price includes accessories. 2-3 Life jackets, fire extinguisher, gas can, small tool set, emergency rope ladder, rubber cockpit cushion set. Danforth 12 lb. anchor 100 ft. rode with chain and anchor holder on pulpit. 4 rubber fenders.
