CONDITION:
in need of fiberglass repair below the water line. Repair has been started on a 4" - 5" hole near the bow. The first layer of fiberglass has been applied but additional strengthening from inside the hull and finish work on exterior of this area are needed.
gelcoat shows crazing
mast and boom in excellent condition and were probably replaced fairly recently
sails are used and show some wear and staining but are in good, usable overall condition
halyards and mainsheet have been replaced
jib and genoa sheets are not new but are functional
jib and genoa sheets secure with original camcleats, not winches
other standing rigging intact with bronze, open-barrel turnbuckles
bronze gudgeons and pintels, heavier duty than you would expect on a boat this size
bow and stern lights present but needs battery and may need some wiring
tiller is old and could use an upgrade
motor mount sturdy but needs a new mounting board (could be fabricated from wood or plastic version could be bought from marine supplier) (...just add a 2-HP Honda with integrated gas tank and you'll be ready to go!)
bottom previously had antifouling paint but has been sanded down to gelcoat
trailer had light surface rust but has been primed with Rustoleum for protection
trailer cradles could use new carpet covers
I purchased this boat at auction from a local charity and the boat was damaged during delivery. It wasn't secured properly on the trailer and the bouncing caused the puncture hole mentioned above. I anticipated enjoying this as a project boat as it is a great, stable, keeled day-sailer. It sits nice and low on the trailer and is easy to set up, launch and tow. It could be a very economical way to get out on the water. Unfortunately, my young children need my time more than this boat does so I want to see someone else enjoy it.
David,
The Gulf Coast 18 has sold. Thank you so much for your website -- it's the greatest.
Thanks,
Jim
