1985 Hunter 23

  • This Hunter 23 was purchased by my family 2.5 years ago, my son and I have replaced just about everything on board except the cushions (2 minor blemishes) and have enjoyed every minute of this project (o.k. we had some frustrations). We are taking a break from boating due to my illness, we will regroup and find another project as fun as our Hunter 23 we are selling when the time is right.

Boat: hull great condition / Bottom and rudder completely prepped Winter 2005, 2 quarts Sea Bowld bottom paint included. ( Let me know if you need it applied)

Deck: also great condition (See pics), Brand new Sunbrella Bimini with boot installed 2006 (Not universal, this is made for the Hunter 23 only) Opened one time.

Mast: Kenyon set up with windex @ head. Mast, Boom, Standing rigging 3.5 years old and in excellent condition.

Canvas: Full package Main cover,Winches, tiller were all redone 2005 no stains, no fading at all, new zippers, bindings, velcro,etc.. (See Pics) Engine cover new, but a white plastic with drawstring, I would replace with a Sunbrella blue to present a complete beautiful canvas package at the dock. See above for matching Bimini Info.

Sails: Main: Ulma, 2 reef points,Partial batten, mast slugs. Jib: Ulma / Both sails sent to Bacon Sails for inspection Winter 2005, sent back cleaned, no repairs needed,no previous repairs noted, and estimated to be 3.5 years old and were most probably purchased with the mast set up.

Running Rigging: Harken all around, new Winter 2005, Double Braided line all around, New Winter 2005. I have the entire original running rigging package in very good shape avail. at a very negotiable price ( use as back up, or mainsheet system can be used as a mast vang, make offer on all if interested).

Winches: 2 deck/ Maxwell with "poor mans tailers" added ( These things work great) 1 mast/ Maxwell, all three completely disassembled, pawls/springs replaced, greased with marine approved lube and reattached Winter 2005.

Electric System: Completely replaced Beginning summer 2005, all running, interior lights replaced, marine romex wiring used throughout the boat, fuse panel, fuses all new as well 2005.(12 volt outlet @ panel) Leads from Sailmaster outboard to new voyager deep cycle battery replaced as well (see engine desc.)

Engine: Johnson Sailmaster long shaft 8.0, Completely serviced by South Point Marina, Port Isabel TX. early 2006 (I Have receipts for your inspection) compression was well within factory specs., wiring redone as described before (recharges batt. very well), carb completely rebuilt, all hoses replaced, mechanic estimated 40 to 50 hours total use based on compression test and overall appearance of the engine, Set the throttle to start, prime, pull starter rope the FIRST time, and you are underway. (I will start and run while on the phone if you would like to hear it) all flush equipment included. Engine mounted on a Stainless Steel adjustable bracket, engine mount lock, owners manual, spare pull rope etc. included.

Interior: All teak stripped/recoated 2005, Teak/holly floor re varnished 2005, Sani potti never used (have owners manual), headliner in great shape, all cushions in great shape minus a small blemish next to galley station port, and small blemish starboard side. (I have a full bolt of marine fabric/ Khaki in color at very negotiable price, enough to recover twice. Also have a local upholsterer that has estimated $450.00 plus the before described material to completely recover interior with zippers if you would like.)

Galley: Truly Turn Key! We are restaurant people and the galley got a lot of attention. Sink with brand new Jabsco electric faucet,6gal primary H2o,10 gal reserve H2o, storage compartment added for galley ware in lower section,Teak wrapped swing down table to starboard of burner (huge help) Origo alcohol stove with fuel, igloo cooler that fits perfect under companionway (not pictured) 8" Teflon saute pan (Eggs Benedict for the crew), 2 quart sauce pot (hot soup, cold day) all cooking utensils, spices (6 total for your discerning palate) Complete tableware set in Caribbean Theme that stores well underway. Again this is a compact complete galley. all new summer 2006.

Safety Package: 6 USCG app. Life jackets in bag, Fire ext (in the green), First aid kit x 2

Trailer: 1985 Magic Tilt, New: Treated bunk boards, lighting (water proof), tounge jack, winch, wheel bearings with bearing buddies installed. The trailer is in great condition with Goodyear Power Streak 2 Trailer tires, not car tires. I had planned to paint to match boat, but again plans have changed. All items described installed 2005.

Please note that all pictured items except my little blond crew member, sawhorse, and the two clamps holding the engine to the sawhorse are included. I guarantee you if I dig through the "boat pile" in my garage we would find more items.
