Macgregor 25, 1982

Hall of Fame, Swing keel pocket cruiser.

  • length:24' 11"
  • width: 7' 11"
  • draft: 1' 10"keel up 5' 8"keel down

The "Eve J." is in good shape overall and has a lot of features that make her fun to take the crew out. She can be beached or enjoyed in shallow water. She can be raced competitively under PHRF rules or cruised for a weekend or a week. She is easily rigged in 30 minutes and can be stored on the trailer in a 30 foot space.

This is a great boat to sail, very forgiving of mistakes and able to keep the crew safe in a storm. She has been sailed in all kinds of conditions on Narragansett Bay (salt water) for 7 years. I have usually singlehanded her. The swing keel makes it easy to get out of trouble if you run aground. Her foam flotation makes her unsinkable. She is a great boat to learn on and still gives a thrill to a sailor with experience.

I've listed a bunch of upgrades and accessories that come with her:

  • New (ish) ('06) Main with full battens and a loose foot, 3 sets of reef points and an enlarged leach. Always covered.
  • The sail was custom built with an enlarged leach and a custom extended masthead crane.
  • 2 foresails: 100% jib and 150% Genoa.
  • Yamaha 9.8 Hi-thrust Long Shaft with remote throttle and electric start.
  • Edson Wheel steering on a binnacle with a lighted compass. Fold down table attached.
  • IdaSailor rudder with quick release hold-down cleat.
  • Traveler across bridgedeck
  • Boom vang
  • Downhaul for jib
  • All lines led to cockpit for singlehanding
  • Bottom painted with Petit Ultima ablative paint
  • Replaced windows
  • Upgraded spreader bases and mast-step.
  • Mast raising kit installed.
  • Anchor in holder on pulpit with chain and rode
  • Chain locker with hawse on foredeck.
  • Boat hook
  • Safety equipment and PFD’s
  • Boarding ladder mounted to transom
  • Complete set of cushions, not the original plaid
  • Cockpit cushions and lifeline pads
  • Standard table upgraded with a clear insert
  • Wine rack
  • Enclosed head with newer porta-potty
  • 1 Marine mixed use Battery
  • Rewired 3 years ago.
  • Battery charger and shore power
  • Depth and Knot meters, transom mounted
  • Second compass on bulkhead
  • Marine 2-way radio.
  • Bimini covers entire cockpit, with cover
  • Pop top cover and screens. Needs some repair to seams.
  • Original MacGregor Trailer
  • Surge brakes
  • Spare tire
  • Washing system on trailer
  • Boat guides
  • LED lights.
  • Custom ladder welded onto trailer
  • Newer Yamaha 9.9 available.

I would enjoy giving initial instruction in sailing (if needed) within driving distance of Rhode Island.

Thanks very much for your help selling my MacGregor.
