1985 Macgregor 25

  • I have been working on this boat for 1.5 years off and on restoring her, as well as sailing her almost every weekend.
  • Engine is a mid 70's Johnson 4hp 2-stroke, runs strong pushes her between 4 and 5 knots. With 2.5 Gallon Fuel can
  • Trailer is a 2003 EZ Loader single Axle Trailer adapted to fit this boat.
  • Hull has been stripped back to gel-coat, then bottom was barrier coated with 7 coats of West Marine 2 part Epoxy (105/205) and West Systems 422 Barrier Additive. Bottom painted with 3 coats of West Ablative Bottom Paint (needs fresh paint)
  • Above the waterline was painted with Interlux Acrylic paint. Needs some touch up but otherwise in good shape.
  • Above the rub rail needs some touch up and a good polish, this area was next on my list.
  • Cushions have been replaced with 4" foam for V-Birth, and one seat of dinette, I am finishing the cushions of the other side of the dinette this week.
  • Replaced port-a-pot with Manual Flush Marine Head w/ 15gal holding tank. (will remove and give $150 credit if not wanted)
  • Rebuilt table for dinette
  • Stripped and oiled interior Teak, doing external teak this week.
  • Replaced power panel, and wiring to mast

This list of items has NOT been installed but come with the boat.

  • NEW Main/Jib halyards and Mainsheet ordered on 10/1/04, included with sale
  • NEW Stainless Keel Cable
  • NEW Bilge pump
  • NEW 100' 1/2" Anchor rode w/ 10 foot chain
  • NEW Electric Anchor Windlass
  • NEW masthead Marine Antenna
  • NEW 25 Gallon fresh water tank
  • NEW Constant pressure electric fresh water pump

    Almost new

  • Older Auto Tiller, sold to me as functional, never installed.
  • Several bumpers
  • Life preservers
  • 1 qt Blue Bottom paint (currently on there)
  • 1 qt Red Bottom Paint (Compatible to blue, was intended to be warning coat)
  • Marine Radio (2002)
  • Dansforth Like Anchor w/150' 1/2" Rode and 25' 5/8" chain.

BEST Features: This boat is set up for single hand sailing, from trailer to trailer. I have developed a mast raising system for it that requires little effort to raise the mast, and can be paused at any point for untangling shrouds or stays.

Mounted at the foot of the mast is an electric winch, routed forward to the chain plate, and then back to the fore stay. Off to the side of the mast is an eye. A gin pole goes from the mast to the eye to stabilize the mast. A second wooden pole is placed at the base of the mast to the fore stay for leverage. Push of a button and up she goes, no fears of loosing the mast off the side. Lots of energy left for sailing rather than being worn out from muscling the mast up.

    Work Remaining

  • Fore and Backstay's are currently Galvanized, I just won an auction for 50' of stainless to be used for making these, this is included
  • Galley has the factory sink, it needs to be hooked up.
  • Time for the Keel's Pivot bolt to be inspected
  • Topside deck needs polished, and a few minor repairs.
  • Front and rear nav lights need re-wired, masthead lights work.

    Sails and Condition

  • Comes with 2 mainsails, one in excellent condition w/ sail bag. I have not installed slugs on this sail yet, I purchased it 9/25/04. The sail was made for Macgregor 25, and looks excellent, one reef point. Does not have battens installed.
  • Second Mainsail is a lost cause, BUT can be used.
  • Working Jib is in good shape, has small dime sized hole near top.
  • Genoa sail (135% I think) In good shape, needs cleaning. I have never flown this sail, I was looking the other day and it needs a few hanks replaced. I have several that I will include with the sale of the boat.

This is an excellent boat, and she has been a labor of love on my part, as well as a great teacher with no vices. She was aptly named All Hours when I purchased her, and she has live to her name, I have around a 1000 hours of labor into her, as well as a couple of hundred hours with her under sail. Selling this boat isn't something I WANT to do, but something I HAVE to do.
