I have owned this MacGregor 26D for 6 years. We have had awesome weekends on this boat. It sails down the California Coast beautifully. It has been to Santa Catalina Island 8 times. With this boat you can moor on the "string line" in Avalon and Two Harbors. This makes the stay very comfortable and fun. (1st row from the shore line!)
It is an inexpensive boat to own and maintain. Once you've paid your yearly registration and insurance you can store it in your RV parking. Use it when you want without the $300 to $600 dollar monthly slip fees of other sailboat owners. You must have a towing vehicle of moderate abilities. (The manufacture advertised it with a Ford Taurus in the brochure.) The parking lot at the marina is about 8 to 10 dollars per use. Factor in the gas in the outboard motor tank to get in and out of the harbor and the wind is free.
