M scow, 16 ft., Late 60s
Fiberglass Hull, Wooden Rig.
This boat was given to me by a great uncle who was the original owner in a hope that I would be able to restore it to its prime. Unfortunately, I have neither the time nor the money to get this puppy sailing again. It breaks my heart to see it sitting in the lawn so I’m practically giving it away.
It comes with a trailer, which is probably worth the price of the combination. Also the original sails, main and jib. The hull is solid, stiff and does not leak. There are a couple of fiberglass patches that could used to be sanded down to be more aesthetically pleasing. It has the dual rudder assembly and both lee boards in great condition (may be worth it for the parts).
The original wooden mast that came with the boat is broken and has been repaired and now it is broken again. I do not think it is repairable; however they are reproducing brand new aluminum mast for the fleet. You can get a new rig considerably cheep because of the resurgence of the fleet. M-scows are raced heavily on the Jersey Intercostals and also in the mid-west. People are taking boats similar to this one and fixing them into race winners.
With a new rig, sails, and a smooth bottom this boat would be ready for the race course.
These boats are fast and a lot of fun and are making a comeback. Now is your chance to get involved for next to nothing.
Willing to make arrangements to deliver.
