1974 Melges MC Scow

  • Length 16 feet
  • Beam 5.8 feet
  • Hull Fiberglass
  • Weight 420lbs.
  • Main 135 sq.ft., one good north sails main
  • Boom Vang, Cunningham, and Outhaul lead back to the cockpit.
  • A really fun go-fast boat that you can race single-handed since it only has one sail, but with plenty of room to take a few friends out daysailing. I raced it with the great folks at Arlington Yacht Club in Arlington, TX where there are about 20 of them in a very active fleet. 2300 have been built, it is still in production, and with over 85 fleets active it's easy to find some to race against. This one may be a tad slower than the newer boats, but it's great to learn on.
  • Cosmetically this boat is not pretty, but it has a solid deck with a solid, never-repaired mast step, and it is plenty of fun to sail.
  • Includes good trailer with good tires and new bearing buddies. I regularly went 40 miles on the interstate with no problem. I am only selling this because I have to move to North Carolina. I would take it with me but I need my trailer hitch for the Uhaul.

    David,
Thank you for the ad. I sold the boat this weekend. Your site is a great service and I eventually plan to buy another boat and your site will be my first stop.
