This boat planes with 6 knots and you have to almost hang on during its rapid acceleration.
This boat is one of the fastest single handed skiffs, faster, lighter and more fun than a Laser, especially downwind, after you pull just four feet of halyard and you have the asymmetric spinnaker up.
Very easy to transport (carbon fiber mast is two piece so it fits in my car), rig and sail. The boat is in excellent shape, very well taken care of, sails, sheets, bag are all in good shape, the deck is almost immaculate. The hull has no repairs I could find, just some dirty spots and a few very light scratches, I listed a picture of the hull so you can see it. First picture is of the boat on a plane, second is of me raising the spinnaker after going around the buoy, third is of more relaxed sailing upwind. Boat is very easy to righten after a capsize, even if you were flying the spinnaker. Just like a laser, you can even quickly climb over and righten the boat and stay mostly dry.
From manufacturer brochure:
MX Ray specs:
LOA 12'11"
Beam 5'
Draft 2'6"
Hull Wt. 115 lbs.
Main 84 sq. ft.
Spin. 78 sq. ft.
Performance:
MX Ray sets a new standard in single handed sailing. No other single handed skiff offers this kind of exhilaration and ease of use.
In fact, it created a whole new performance maxim: Planes in just six knots of wind and reaches speeds well over twenty knots.
Even upwind sailing without the spinnaker is exciting since you have the ability to plane in moderate wind.
