1989 Newport 33
Accommodations
This traditional layout includes a salon with settees on either side and a retractable drop leaf table which folds against a set of shelves on the bulkhead. The port settee slides out to convert to a roomy double berth. Large opening portlights set in teak paneling and an overhead hatch combine for exceptional light and ventilation. Cabinets on both sides have sophisticated leaded glass doors. Additional storage is found behind and beneath the settees. Satin finished teak has been tastefully used in the bulkheads, sides and furnishings. It pleasantly offsets the white headliner and powder blue upholstery. Forward, to starboard, is a built in cabinet with three drawers, a shelf and an outboard cupboard.
A roomy forepeak cabin has a comfortable V-berth with a cushioned filler, a privacy door and a private door to the head. Two opening portlights and a large overhead hatch are great for light, ventilation and sail handling. A hanging locker to starboard provides ample storage.
Across from the cabin's hanging locker and the salon's built in cabinet is the large head to port. It has two opening portlights and an overhead hatch for light and ventilation. A large area is included for showering. Both pressure and manual water are available in the head. Two doors open to the passageway and the forward V-berth.
The NAV station is starboard, across from the galley and forward of the quarter berth. Its rear facing contoured seat has three drawers beneath it and counters outboard and aft of it. The sturdy NAV desk slides easily over the quarterberth, out of the way, when not in use. When the NAV desk is retracted there is good access to a berth in the aft starboard quarter. There is a portlight which opens to the cockpit for ready communications and ventilation, when needed.
Galley
The fully functional galley is just inside the companionway to port. The U shaped design maximizes the counter space and provides a secure work area. The twin basin sink is aft, near centerline and has a pressurized hot & cold spigot, a foot pumped fresh water spigot and a foot pumped raw water spigot. Two drawers are beneath the sink across from the forward island counter with two more drawers in it. A cold plate refrigerated icebox is incorporated into the aft outboard counter top and has cupboards behind it and outboard of it. The stove, forward on the port side, has a hide-away counter covering.
