1985 Oday 23
The Oday 23 is a spacious, trailerable family cruising boat. Safe and easily handled - ideal as a first cruising boat. The boat is easy to handle and responds well in a variety of wind conditions. It's very stable for a boat of its size and feels like a much larger boat.
The centreboard design facilitates trailering and provides the benefit of shoal draft - just 2ft 3in with the centreboard up. With the board down, the draft increases to 5ft 4in for excellent sailing performance.
Four comfortable berths. Berths to port and starboard in main cabin area and twin V-berths in the bow cabin area. Fold-down table mounted on the bulkhead. A head with Porta-potti is forward on the port side. There is a galley counter with a pull-out sink underneath. There's enough room for three or four people to sit and move about comfortably.
Being constructed in 1985, this is one of the last of the popular Oday 23 to be produced. She benefits from all enhancements that were made to the original design during the seven years of production of this attractive cruising sailboat.
A good looking boat, nice to handle, gives a big boat feel with the ease of small boat handling.
The boat has been in regular use for sailing instruction until last season. Overall she is in great condition although needs some tidying up to prepare for the current season. Hull requires a wash down and would look better with a repaint.
The interior is clean and tidy. The cushions could probably do with replacing. Rub-down and varnishing of the wood trim would improve the appearance.
Mast, sails and rigging are all in good condition.
A 15hp outboard engine is included and the boat has a swing-up outboard motor mount installed on the transom.
Price is for boat and engine. Also included are the six special stands for the boat which are approximately 5ft high.
The boat is stored at Dennis Point Marina, Drayden, Maryland where both dockage and land storage are available at reasonable cost.
A trailer is not included although one is available for an additional US $1,500. The trailer may also be available on a loan basis to facilitate moving the boat elsewhere.
