1991 Precision 18
I have sailed this boat in a freshwater lake and in the Cape Fear River (salt/brackish). It's fun to sail, handles well, and seems to scoot along pretty quickly. My wife and I can put up or lower the mast on trailer, get it all ready to go, round up a 1 year old the whole time, and be in the water in 45 minutes. Much, much easier than my Hunter 23. One person can, and I have, raise the mast and rig the boat. The interior is very comfortable for a boat this size. The swing centerboard drops out of the shoal draft keel and can be raised or lowered with one hand. So, there's no centerboard gear in the cabin. Also, the mast support is built into the frame, so there's no pole between you and your partner.
When I bought the boat it needed some minor attention. It had been sitting in a warehouse for most of the last few years. All problems it had were addressed and it's now in beautiful sail-away condition.
Recent fixes/upgrades:
New Bottom with several layers of Interlux Barriercoat and West Marine Premium Copolymer Ablative in blue.
New factory tapestripes, bootstripes, and lettering.
New battery.
New exhaust vent.
New Windex.
All exterior teak was refinished with Sikkens.
Several lines were replaced.
New wiring in trailer.
New wheels and hubs with bearing buddies on the trailer.
Everything on and in the boat is sound and in great shape. The interior cushions are in excellent shape - no wear, no stains, no rips. The porta-potty is in like-new condition. The sails are in decent shape - original but rarely used - a main, jib, and 130 genoa. The rigging is standard but top notch, all Harken. The trailer is in super shape and trailers very easily.
The motor that comes with the boat is a 1989 6 HP Yachtwin with alternator made by Evinrude. This is a neat motor with the bigfoot lower unit. The motor sat for at least 2 years with fuel in it. I got it started, but it didn't run long. I think a proper servicing would get it back in order. The motor looks to be in good condition. OR, you can purchase 5 HP Honda 4-stroke to go with it separately for $1000 more and take home both motors. The motor in the picture is the Honda. I have always used 4-strokes so I didn't even think about servicing the 2-stroke Yachtwin. The Honda is not for sale on its own, only in addition to the boat. Just to avoid any confusion, the 6HP Yachtwin is included, not the 5HP Honda.
Shipping is not available. The boat can be viewed on the trailer at my house.
Precision 18 G is sold. Thank you very much for running the ad.
