D/L 171
A nice large cockpit for hauling friends and the stability that comes
with her marvelously beamy shape. The Slipper 17 sails like a much
bigger boat, but tows easily on a light two-wheel trailer. This one is
ready to go anywhere with confidence. Complete recent refit, includes 6
gallon fresh water tank, all new wiring, manual bilge and water pumps,
teak refinished with Cetol, bronze thru-hulls, cabin interior painted,
much new rigging, new plastic hatch, all deck fittings re-installed.
Complete with safety equipment, porta-potty, dock lines, “Bruce” style
anchor with rode, fenders, three throwable cockpit cushions and the
original sails. Sails are clean and usable, but at 23 years old their
shape isn’t like new. I have sailed this boat in CT, TX, NM, and CO in
winds up to 25 mph. It’s a joy! The boat doesn’t look like new, as it’s
got a few scars. But it’s sound, and as clean as I could get it. I keep
it in an enclosed stall near the lake, and can rig it single-handed in
25 minutes.
Trailer is 1984 Arrow Model S 1615, with new axle, bunk boards, winch,
wiring and lights, Goodyear trailer radial tires and Bearing Buddies. It
has mast crutch and walk board for easy launch and retrieval. Trailer
also has an 8 ft. tongue extension so you don’t have to submerge your
tow vehicle to get the boat off the trailer.
Engine is a 1984 4 HP Johnson Sailmaster, with new water pump, fuel
pump, rebuilt carb. This twin-cylinder, long shaft motor runs much more
smoothly than any 4 hp motor on the market today. It has forward and
neutral gears.
