1973 South Coast 22

  • Two main sails, a jib sail, and a genoa sail. This is a solid boat with some new interior modifications to make it more comfortable. In the pictures you can see that an electric winch has been added to raise and lower the swing keel eliminating the need for jumping down in the cabin to crank on a winch, just push a button. A wood pop top was added to increase headroom so that full size adults can sit inside and have headroom. The tiller (shown laying in the front v birth) has a tiller lock added that will allow you to set the rudder in a position and lock it. There is a mount on the back of the boat for a motor.

Some carpet has been added inside along with a fold out section that makes for a wider sleeping area than normal. The manual says it will sleep 4, but really more like 2 adults and maybe 2 kids. There is a spot for a sink with a drain fitting, but the original sink wasn't functional so it was removed. There are also two seat cushions for the main cockpit area that will give you more comfort while you are sailing. There are also two cushions in the front vberth that you can sleep on . There is a forward hatch that has a screen over it to keep bugs out. I added it last summer and was able to keep the hatch open while sleeping without being attacked by bugs. There are pull down shades over the windows so you can keep the sun out or have privacy while changing.

A digital depth finder with speed and temperature sensors is installed on the boat and can be seen in the picture. There is also a fire extinguisher included. The front jib and genoa sails picked up some rust spots from the anchor at one point in time. I have sailed it without having it cleaned but if you want to you could probably have the rust spots removed by a sail loft. (see sail picts) Also there is a plastic sail slide on one main sail that came off last summer that should be replaced. I sailed without it because it was at the very top of the sail, but just if you ever send the sail in you might have a new one put on.

This boat is a lot of fun! Any questions please let me know.

David, Sorry for the delay getting back to you, I have been away a lot this summer. The sailboat did sell here locally after I put an ad in the classifieds a few weeks back. Thank you again for posting it on your site.
    Sincerely,
