Every sailor should own at least one Sunfish in their lifetime. Notable Sunfish owners have included Ted Turner of America's Cup fame and Walter Cronkite. Sunfishes are simple and fast to rig and are easy to sail. Beginners can enjoy safe sailing almost immediately. Seasoned sailors appreciate the ease of rigging, the boat's readiness to pop up on a plane and their ability to handle heavy air. Many instructors agree they are the ideal choice for a first sailboat. This class is alive and well; parts and sails are readily available from a host of different sources. New Sunfishes start at $3400 plus tax w/o trailer. There is an active Sunfish Class Association and ample opportumities for fleet racing throughout Texas. In Texas, sailboats shorter than 14' do not require titles or registration.
The hull and foils are all fair (smooth). Although this is an older boat, it shows little wear and tear. The sail is in good condition. The mahoghany centerboard, rudder and tiller have been stripped and refinished with many coats of good quality spar varnish. The original bronze hardware is in good condition and has been polished wherever possible. This boat should provide many more years of dependable fun.
The trailer was recently sanded, primed and refinished with good quality enamel. A new front hull support was custom made to cradle the boat. The wheel bearings have zirc fittings and have been recently lubed and the lights work. The tires are new. The coupler requires a 1 7/8" inch ball.
Hi Dave. I received a commitment to buy my Sunfish one day after it had been posted on your site.
I also had the pleasure of corresponding with many interesting non- English speaking people from all over the world.
Please mark it is as SOLD.
Many thanks for creating and maintaining your great site.
Best Regards, Dave
