1983 Sunfish
Original rainbow sail and a spare - both without rips or tears
Includes a trailer, an English "Snipe", in good working condition - lights are erratic after long periods of inactivity. The integrity of the fenders is questionable, but they are still serviceable. The wheel bearing are not sealed, so launch/recovery is done carefully so as not to submerge the bearings. Launching/recovery is easy enough off the back of the trailer for one person with the wheels at the edge of the water. The upright at the front of the trailer supports the poles with their other end on the cockpit cubby on a piece of Styrofoam. The rest of the gear fits into a car trunk.
Since 1990 when I bought it from the original Maryland owner, it has been a lake boat. I don't know about prior use, but suspect some salt water because the foredeck handle has some corrosion.
Accessories: Original wooden centerboard, newer composite centerboard (with slight nicks), drawstring bags for wooden centerboard, rudder and handle, and for spare sail, 2 stowable plastic paddles, gooseneck lever adjuster, a mainsheet block (the best modification!), a tiller extension, a traveler line and ring, 2 pfd's, sleeve for sail and mast (protection during transportation), canvas boat cover (stiff and shrunken), lines and pulleys for a hoist system to stow poles and sail in garage rafters, bucket of miscellaneous stuff like booties, gloves, jens rig, tillers, foam seat pads, misc bungees, lines and spare parts.
Boat has been kept outside under a cover and used on average 2-3 times a year since 1990 on/in Central Florida lakes.
Hull is in excellent condition. In the late '90's at the Dixie Regatta, the hull was weighted at 127 lbs. No known holes or cracks or leaks. Some scuffing around bow and along keel (signs of experience and character). Deck has some crazing in the gelcoat, but is otherwise sound. The wooden rudder partially split early in its life (a design weakness) and is reinforced with a steel strap (see photos). If I were ever to have to buy a new rudder, the first thing I would do is to reinforce it this way.
This boat has been a lot of fun over the years and is a blast when it is too windy for the skiers to be about, but now I'm not spry enough to make it perform. I'm asking $1225 for the whole setup - all you need is a vehicle to tow it and a bathing suit for decency. I'm willing to deliver it within 100 miles (after purchase). This is an ideal boat for novice a sailor (everything needed to hit the water) (a Christmas present?) or for a racer who wants a sound spare hull to convert to racing specs or for the restless sailor who needs a get-away package.

Thank you for running a site that seems more like a public service than a commercial venture. Today I sold the Sunfish. Please remove this ad at your convenience. For you information, the asking price of $1225 resulted in a sale for $1000.
Also, thank you for the scam warnings. I was swarmed by such emails. I responded to most by suggesting that they contact my sales representative and gave a local Orlando phone number - the Orlando office of the Secret Service.
