1972 West Wight Potter HMS 18 #30, "Rubber Ducky."

Features:

  • Honda 4 stroke 5 HP engine is virtually brand new,
  • Aluminum motor mount raises motor out of water (Not the box ones on WWP-19s),
  • New Main Sail w/Jiffy Reefing (2003 with #30 on Main & WWP 18 Insignia above it),
  • Light blue & dark blue striped Standard Jib,
  • Sunbrella sail cover for main when lowered to store on boom,
  • Boom Vang,
  • Thicker aluminum Mast & Boom than present WWP-19s,
  • Forward V-Berth opening hatch,
  • WWP Burgee,
  • Rubber Ducky Burgee,
  • Fish-finder depth meter and knot meter,
  • VHF Radio,
  • Compass,
  • Inclinometer,
  • Interior cushions (one need recovering or a zipper replaced),
  • Recent running rigging (Color coded spectra),
  • fenders,
  • Deep Cycle Battery,
  • Running, steaming and anchor lights,
  • Factory interior hull liner (unusual for this model year),
  • Oblong, shallow galley sink w/thru hull (much better than new round sinks),
  • Porta-potty,
  • Mahogany headliner,
  • Lots of interior storage spaces,
  • Fire Extinguisher,
  • Two Inflatable PDFs,
  • Stainless Steel Boarding Ladder,
  • Horse-shoe life buoy,
  • Sail Bag for main and Jib.
  • The keel is the longer, original Herb Stewart designed air-foil shaped keel, which extends three inches below the keel opening and makes her motor extremely well and point a bit better when the keel is down (according to Dr. Judy Blumhorst). It needs a bit of rust de-scaling.
  • The galvanized trailer is newer than the boat. It was refurbished in 2002 with all parts Re-welded and new carpeting installed. New trailer tires in Jan ’04. (two 2-year-old tires also included.)
  • The hull is solid, thick fiberglass, and the cabin top is very strong, solid fiberglass (no give at all).
  • It needs: the keel scraped and painted and a lower hatch-board guide installed. The port-side teak cabin-top grab rail is broken, so there are only two hand-holds instead of four on the port side.
  • For a rare HMS 18, this boat is in good shape (especially the interior gelcoat); and her hull is solid as a rock. With a bit of sweat equity, you will have a classic boat that will increase in value as the HMS 18 Potter Fleet ages.
  • She was last sailed on Monterey Bay in December 2003 with WWP regatta before being brought to Texas in January 2004.
  • I am the 3rd owner.
  • (Will trade for 1994 (or later) WWP-15 with like-new sails and running lights)
